Clovis Lodewijks was born on September 22, 1930, in Curacao. At the age of 18, he began practicing the sport of football and played for both the STACO (St. Albertus College) and SITHOC (St. Thomas College) teams. At this age, he assumed roles as both a player and a sports leader in the football team CENTRO DOMINGUITO.
Clovis served as the president of this club from 1950 to 1965. In 1957, he joined the board of the Curacaose Voetbal Bond and held the position of second secretary until 1963. He represented C.V.B. as a delegate in various international events abroad.
In 1966, Clovis co-founded the baseball team Dominguito Sugar Kings, now known as WILD CATS/Banko di Caribe. From 1958 to 1969, he held the position of president of the Government Commission (Central and Insular), responsible for promoting sports for government employees and workers.
From 1966 onwards, Clovis dedicated himself to the sport of softball, achieving an outstanding international career. He became the president of the Curacao Softball Federation in 1968 and co-founded and became the president of the Curacao and Antilles Softball Federation (NASOFE) in the same year. Clovis worked to affiliate this sport with international organizations such as I.S.F. and the Central American and Caribbean Softball Confederation.
In 1986, during the 2nd Central American and Caribbean Men’s Softball Championship, Clovis was elected treasurer of the Confederation. The following year, he became the president of the Central American and Caribbean Softball Confederation, a position he held until 1979.
Clovis was also a co-founder of the Curacao Sport Federation in 1969 and a member of the board. He served as the president of this federation from 1971 to 1984. Additionally, he received recognition for his contribution to the well-being of Curacao, such as the Knight in the Order of Orange Nassau in 1992.
Throughout his career, Clovis played technical and administrative roles in various sports, including football, baseball, and softball. He also held positions in several national and international sports organizations, standing out for his work. Currently, he remains a part of various clubs and sports organizations in Curacao.
