Sylvanie Elaine Clarke was born on February 10, 1959.
In her youth, Sylvanie was active in softball. She started playing softball in Pichingolo. In 1976, Sylvanie was part of the national selection of Antilles that became champions in El Salvador. In 1977, she was named athlete of the year. Sylvanie visited different countries as part of the Curaçao selection in El Salvador, Venezuela, Colombia, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, the United States, Peru, the Netherlands, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Argentina, and Guatemala. Sylvanie is one of the players who has been part of the Antilles selections for the longest time.
Most of Sylvanie’s career as a softball player was with Pichingolo, but she also played for Blue Angels and Cardenales, as well as in Baranka, where she worked. In 1995, Sylvanie concluded her active career as a softball player.
In the 1970s, Sylvanie began to learn baseball scoring. With the late Mr. Hubert Fleming, she delved into the scoring material. Sylvanie had to listen to baseball games on the radio, score the games, and then take them to Hubert for correction. She went to different baseball fields every Saturday to practice scoring. After scoring many Class A games, she moved on to score AA baseball.
Sylvanie scored for CUSCA for more than 10 years. When CUSCA stopped, Sylvanie also stopped scoring for baseball. In 1993, at the request of Mr. Clovis Lodewijks, Sylvanie started giving scoring lessons. For many years, Sylvanie was the person who kept scores for softball.
In 2004, the president of FEBEKO, Mr. Kenneth Gijsbertha, approached Sylvanie to score baseball. She continued to do this for FEBEKO under the presidency of Mr. Armin Konket and Thakai Doran.
Sylvanie gave scoring lessons to over 100 people in Curaçao, Aruba, Bonaire, and St. Maarten. In 2006, she conducted a seminar in Sao Paulo, Brazil, representing the International Softball Federation (I.S.F.).
In 2007, during a seminar in Panama, Sylvanie received her certificate as a scorer from the International Baseball Federation (I.B.F.). Today, Sylvanie wants to express special thanks to Mr. Clovis Lodewijks, Mr. Kenneth Gijsbertha, the organizations of Pichingolo, Blue Angels, Cardenales, CUSCA, and the Cu
