Nazario Bernardus Martijn was born on July 2, 1958.
Nazario began his involvement in swimming in 1973 when Monique Maria founded the Bulado Swim Club near Marie Pampoen. He was an active swimmer until 1986. Nazario worked at the Sports Department (Deporte Sedreko) from 1985 until his passing in 2019.
He obtained his swim teacher, swim coach, and diving coach diploma from Springfield College in the USA. Additionally, he received Swim Teacher A and B diplomas in Curaçao, as well as a First Aid diploma. He also earned a Swimming Teacher diploma from the National Sports Institute in Venezuela and completed the ODEPA course in Argentina. Furthermore, Nazario achieved FINA Level 1 certification in Greece and FINA Level 2 certification in St. Lucia.
Nazario held several certificates in coaching, including coach levels 1-4 ASCA, level 4 ASCA, and level 5 ASCA. He participated in the USRPT program in Kansas City, USA, and attended the First World Clinic Coaches in Hawaii.
He served as the assistant head coach of Bulado Swim Club Curaçao and participated in Carifta Games in Barbados and Jamaica. As the head coach, Nazario led Bulado Swim Club, the selection of Antias in Mexico, the selection of Antias CCCAN Games in Mexico, the Universiade in Turkey, the Universiade in Bangkok, the Universiade in Russia, C.I.S.C. in Aruba, Kingdom Games in the Netherlands, YPA athletes in Colombia, and competitions of NACO.
Nazario was the founder and head coach of Typhoon Swim Club.
