Eric Anthony Gregorio Ogenia was born on April 12, 1954.
In 1964, when Xaverianen was founded, Eric was one of the first members to join. Eric never practiced organized volleyball, baseball, football, and athletics. After Eric’s return from the Netherlands, he rejoined Xaverianen, and with the women’s team, he broke the Amstel Volleymaster dynasty at that time.
Since 1980, under Eric’s leadership, Xavarianen became the largest organization in local volleyball, and the men’s teams participated in finals from 1984 onwards.
Eric’s journey as a leader began in 1983 when he joined Boy Doran in the volleyball board. From 1984 to 1986, Eric was the president of KVH along with Cheryl Royer, Edson Ersilia, Efren Candelaria, and Truus Isidora.
From 1985 to 1986 and from 1989 to 1991, Eric presided over the Volleyball Federation of Curaçao. From 1991 to 1994, Eric held various positions in the board. From 2004 to 2005, Eric was on the board of FEVOKO, first as vice president and later as president. He also served on the board of NAVOBO, first as treasurer in 2003 and later as president until Antilles ceased to exist in 2010.
Under Eric’s presidency, two CAZOVA male youth championships were organized in 2010, with Curaçao becoming champion and qualifying for the NORCECA youth championship. In 2012, the CAZOVA female youth championship was organized in Curaçao, with two classification tournaments for the FIVB World Championship held in Curaçao. Eric was a member of the CAZOVA board as the sub-regional volleyball association treasurer.
In NORCECA, Eric is part of the financial commission as the internal auditor until today. He also served in the Curaçao Sports Federation as the Second Treasurer from 1993 to 2000.
From 2000 to 2004, Eric served as the treasurer of NAOC. In 2006, he organized the first FIVB Level I coach course, in 2010 a youth coach course, and in 2012, with NORCECA’s cooperation, an electronic system course where different player data could be extracted during games, as well as identifying the best players in different areas.
Eric ensured the installation of a volleyball court in the Don Bosco hall.
